When the criminal looks like that, it’s hard to stay mad for long. You catch them in the act, fully responsible, and still end up letting it go. Something about that face makes the whole situation feel less serious. The mess is there, the evidence is clear, but they’re just sitting there like nothing happened.

Sometimes cats just need to be put in air jail. You catch them mid-crime, scoop them up, and hold them there like they need a minute to think about what they did. No struggle, just hanging there, slightly confused. It doesn’t fix anything, but it gets the point across. For a few seconds, there’s peace. Then they’re right back to doing the same thing again.

Sometimes a lemon might stop them from jumping on the fish tank, at least for a minute. You put it there thinking it’s a solid plan, and for a second it actually works. They pause, reconsider, maybe back off. Then they figure it out anyway. Give it a little time and they’re right back up there like the lemon was just a minor inconvenience.
